01.01.2009 - Disney Soccer Showcase Production - Orlando, Florida USA
Players involved in the DISS can now order their official tour DVD online from www.directrecordings.co.uk/disneytour. The footage was captured using a Sony Z1, High-Definition Camera by DRS' Ben Marshall and is currently being edited and authored using Final Cut Studio for shipping, later in January. "It's been a fantastic project to be involved in. As well as getting some great footage, it's been great fun watching some of the best young Soccer players in the world" said Ben.

22.11.2008 - Kings Of Leon in Birmingham
We have just recorded KOL using a 48 track Pro-Tools Rig and a new system of TubeTracker Mic Pre-Amps. The recording are likely to be used on MTV and on a tour DVD later in 2009.

22.11.2008 - Aylesbury Festival Choir - 50th Anniversary Concert
Warwick Audio hired DRS to produce this fantastic recording using a Soundfield system coupled with a Neumann U87 soloist mic. The natural acoustic of St Mary's Church Aylesbury meant that no artificial ambience had to be used at all. "It really is a fantastic sound. The house is sold out and we're in for a cracking night" said engineer Adam Cable prior to the concert.

21.11.2008 - Michael Finnissy's New Opera 'Mankind' Recorded
DRS boss Ben Marshall was joined by David Holmes to record Michael's latest work 'Mankind' under the musical direction of Stephen Lansberry from St Peter's in Solihull, Birmingham. "Stephen's a dynamic character who is a real pleasure to work with. Mankind is an amazing score and the guys here have really done it proud. I've no doubt Michael will be very happy." said Ben Marshall. The recording was made using two HD24's and Yamaha and Focusrite Preamps along with a selection of 414's, 451's and C2 condenser mics.

21.11.2008 - Jools Holland Recording
DRS hardware and personal were used to record Jools Holland's latest BBC Radio broadcast. The show aired on Radio 2 last week and was recorded on two Radar 24 systems.

Our web design team have just produced HTFC's new website which incorporates Heanor Town Televsion. A new feature using Youtube embeded in the site.

21.11.2008 - The Bridge Conference, Texas, USA
We have provided the recording infrastructure for a live album recording in Denton, Texas at the Bridge Church Conference."We've sent a 24 track system out which I'm sure will handle the worship band they're using." said Ben Marshall. The project will be mixed by Howard Williams of DB Studios in Lincoln.

12.10.2008 - Dalesmen Singers Album Recorded
Fran Hunter, Alec Leverton and Ben Marshall have just recorded the North Yorkshire Choir's first album for six years. "This truly is the most beautiful location we've ever recorded in." said Alec. The session was multitracked using AKG & AT microphones down to Alesis HD24 and is due to be mixed later this year in Logic back at the DRS edit suite. The venue for the session was Botton Village Theatre, a little known location about 15 miles North of Whitby on the East Yorkshire coast.

12.10.2008 - Queen & Paul Rodgers Live In London (02 Arena)
DRS boss Ben Marshall will be mixing a live broadcast production of the 'Rock Royalty's' London show this coming Monday for broadcast later on in the month. "Working with Queen & Paul is a true honour. It really is a personal dream come true and I can't wait to get the cans on and get some faders moving!!" - Ben Marshall.

08.10.2008 - Ratby Co-operative Brass Band
DRS have just finished the recording of Ratby's forthcoming Christmas album. The recording was carried out using a MOTU/Logic system with AKG 414's and AT4050's at the band's rehearsal room in Leicestershire. The CD will be available from www.warwickmusic.com, later this year.

27.09.2008 - Ireland Colliery Brass Band
Our team have been working with ICBB to produce their first CD in Chestefield, Derbyshire. Pieces include a fantastic version of Klaus Bedelt's 'The Black Pearl' (Pirates of the Caribbean) and an excellent arrangement of Bare Necessities from Jungle Book. The CD will be released later this year, independently by the band but will be available to purchase online in the DRS shop.

12.09.2008 - 'Bryan Adams - UK Tour Recording'
We are delighted to announce that DRS will be providing the recording infrastructure for Bryan's forthoming UK tour. Two shows will be recorded with a view to being released next year as part of a live DVD and documentary looking at Bryan's immese career in the music industry.

10.09.2008 - Dalesmen Singers CD Recording
In October, DRS Engineer Tom Waterman and Producer Ben Marshall will be heading North to record the fantastic Dalesmen Singers in Whitby, North Yorkshire. "The Dalesmen are a cracking bunch of singers and it's a real pleasure to be asked to produce their new album" said Ben Marshall. The CD will be available later this year from local outlets and online from the DRS shop page.

28.08.2008 - Ratby Co-operative Brass Band Christmas Recording
Our team have once again been hired to record Ratby's forthcoming CD. The CD which will feature a variety of Christmas pieces will be recorded in October and be ready for release by early December. DRS Producer, Ben Marshall said "It's great to be working with Mike Fowles again. We had such a great time producing Horizons a few years ago, we've both been looking for an opportunity to work together again since."

05.08.2008 - 'DRS Fishing Lake'
We are pleased to announce that we have taken control of a two acre fishing lake at our Ashby De La Zouch site. The lake is currently stocked with Carp, Tench, Ide, Chub, Roach and Bream. The lakes will be available exclusively to DRS staff and clients for fishing and general use from January 2009. Please contact us if you require more information.

02.08.2008 - Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority
Adam Cable and Ben Marshall have just finished filming the latest in the series of HFEA's training DVD's, recorded in Central London as part of a two camera HD shoot. Post Production is currently underway and the finished product will be completed in the next 10 days.

13.07.2008 - City of London Sinfonia
We have just recorded the CLS's latest education project at Dog Kennel Hill School with Gareth Malone from the BBC's 'The Choir' program. Our team recorded a live concert at the school using an Alesis HD24 system paired with a Yamaha 01v96 and a selection of AKG microphones. The CD will ship later this week!

14.06.2008 - Cinderella 2008 Dance DVD - Let's Dance Studio
DRS Camera team headed by Alvin Cable, today filmed the latest production from Simone Witherden's Let's Dance Studio. The Dance Show adaptation of the legendary story, Cinderella, was captured in a three camera shoot during the afternoon performance at Mansfield's fantastic 'Palace Theatre'.

Our team have just complete the system design for the International Superstars' forthcoming tour recording. We look forward to working with the band again at the 02 Arena and The Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

01.06.2008 - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - ITF 2008
DRS Managing Director is currently out in Utah as part of the International Trombone Festival. In his role as 'Technical Director' Ben's responsibilities cover everything from recording through to lighting and projections. "Being involved in ITF is always a pleasure. We've a great team and although the festival is always hard work, it's fantastic to work with so many talented people and produce some magnificant recordings." Ben Marshall.
For the first time this year, DRS will be producing a souvenir DVD of the festival including backstage footage and interviews with the crew, artists and visitors. This will be available for purchase on the ITA website in July.

Following the successful recording of two live concert throughout April, work has begun on the mixing and mastering of UTBB's forthcoming live album, 'Last Night of the Proms Live'. Musical Director, Matt Pope said 'The recordings sound great. I can't wait to see and hear the finished product. I'm sure it's something that we'll all be proud of'. We have been awarded the contract to record the new album for one of the UK's premier choirs, the 'Dalesmen Singers' in October of this year. "Projects like this are always exciting. DRS have just completed the production of the fantastic vocal quintet, Quintessential's, debut release. Titled 'The Beauty Of Hindsight', the CD includes a variety of arrangements ranging from Rutter to Lennon & McCartney. The album can now be ordered from the online shop page of our site. The album was recorded using one of our mobile production suites powering Logic Pro and with RME interfaces and AKG microphones.

19.10.2007 - Albert Hall - AEC Festival 2007
A DRS team recorded the AEC 2007 Festival down to Radar 24 for post-production and release in early November. The festival involved over 300 children from 10 schools and was headed by the fantastic Helen Hayes from NCT. The performance was done on the round and was therefore recorded using a pair of AKG 414's configured as a cross pair of fig-8's. "All the kids were absolutely fantastic. DRS director, Ben Marshall has been working in Los Angeles with the LASO on Kevin Spacey's new film, set for release next year. DRS provided much of the front-end infrastructure and Ben acted as senior engineer on the sessions.

Our video production team have just filmed UK superbikes doing in excess of 200mph with riders wearing Hairy-R's Mohawks as part of the company's latest speed and safety tests. Footage will soon be available to download from www.hairy-rs.com

Nottingham based choir, Farnaby & Co's new album has been released this week and received rave reviews in various magazines and newpapers. The album was recorded at Linby Church, Notts onto a Alesis HD24 using 4x AKG 414's and a Yamaha digital desk. The project was edited and mixed using Pro-Tools HD.
