Olympic School Songwriting Workshop
New for 2012, our production team will visit your school and work with a group of children to write, record and produce a backing track for your very own 'School Olympic Song'.
The song will feature heavily on the themes of togetherness, teamwork, unity, health and achievement. We want the song to inspire your children to 'Be The Best They Can Be'.
Ordinarily, the session will begin with a sports coaching session. This normally takes about an hour and is carried out by our Sports Media director, Danny Yates. As well as heading our sports media department, Danny is a youth development coach at Notts County FC and Rolls Royce FC.
Following the session, the team reflect on what helped them to achieve most during the session, normally co-operation, teamwork, communication etc.....
Through led-discussion the children will relate those important aspects of sports to the olympics and build the foundation of what their song is to be about.
The children will then take part in the writing of the lyrics of the song and explore how different musical styles might work and help them to achieve their aim.
Next, the team will work with Ben Marshall, a live recording engineer who has worked with artists including Take That, The Saturdays, Ed Sheeran amongst other household names, to create a professional musical arrangement of their song.
Finally, the children will record their song and 'mix' the final version.
By close of play; the children will have completed the song-writing process from start to finish and produced a full version (with backing track) of their song which the school can then freely use in assemblies and for other occasions.
